It’s boring to say it over and over, but what Trump and SCOTUS want is a nation-wide Redemption, from the periodic lawless massacres to the many threats against voting access to the literal repeal of enforcement provisions of the VRA. Many people saw Obama’s presidency as a form of Reconstruction.

Embarrassed I hadn’t thought of this but it’s true: all the male editors acting as if having an affair with a source is normal are creating a horrific expectation for their female coworkers. The hard line against this sort of thing protected journalistic integrity, but it also protected women.

Israel's pager bombing appears to be simple state terrorism, predictably causing indiscriminate violence and suffering among many noncombatants. The Israeli actors couldn't know and apparently didn't care where the thousands of devices were when they blew them up. What a world.
