like I'm sorry but if you're opposed to the idea of remakes on principle I hope you've never read a translation or watched a film adaptation of a novel, because functionally these things are "remakes"

remakes (including translations) are rarely as good as the original, but I think it's short sighted to say there can never be value in revisiting a work or introducing it to a new audience
