Could you explain further what you mean by calling forth understanding and how it is different to bringing to mind chunks of information?

I’ll use an inadequate metaphor (I say inadequate as a get out clause -it’s late). Chunks are atoms. Understanding is a molecule built from those atoms. The same atoms can make different molecules. Some of the latter are better suited to certain tasks than other e.g. salicylic acid vs aspirin
