Friends, family, people who know me, etc. keep asking me if I'll take a picture of this new moon. I created this comparison with a real picture of the moon that I took to demonstrate how big it will look. The biggest scope I have access to is a 25" which I don't think is big enough to see it.

Yes, earth will get a temporary second moon in a couple of days. Here is a real picture of the moon and my artist's rendition of Asteroid 2024 PT5. It's in the very center of the circle taking up about 0.003 pixels. I'd ask you to zoom in but you can't. Full moon is from May 2024. #Astronomy 🧪🔭
