It's a useful word. It's overused, like any useful word, but it's a useful word. And not even an insult. One of the most important things you can do when trying to weigh a situation like this is to try to understand if you are coming from a point of privilege and what you can do to overcome that.

exactly! it gets sticky when people have a deeply emotional stake in the outcome and have therefor attached themselves to a single avenue. which i empathize with! i do! but it can be p myopic and blinding. and honestly im just not particularly interested in discourse with people in that case.
