I did a write up of the new California law that greenlights 30 pilot projects for "neighborhood-scale electrification" Basically, CA utilities are going to start moving whole neighborhoods off gas. People will get free retrofits and appliances. gasoutlook.com/analysis/cal...

Very interesting.

I hope they give homeowners induction stoves (if they want them) vs other electric options. The former work so much better.

I'm curious, what would be the cost of replacing gas with electric, relative to the money spent replacing gas lines like normal? I imagine its at least comparable if not cheaper, but it would be interesting to see it put into specifics to see the money saved by this program.

How will it be paid for? Utilities will identify areas where they had planned to replace old gas pipes with new gas pipes, and instead will electrify. So it's money utilities would have spent anyway.
