Yes, it eats into the margins, but it is actually a very small amount of the total fuel (a few percent) because the booster is so much lighter coming down than going up. The vast majority of the velocity is actually still bled off via air resistance despite the lack of parachute.

There is another category between home charging and fast charging. The majority of my charging is at work on a 7kW charger at about 45p/kWh which is fairly equivalent to petrol. Too expensive and not available to everyone? Yes. But more on streets and at shops, workplaces etc is the way to fix this.
