it's just that i'm absolutely convinced that anyone who thinks the word or tone choices in e.g. the nyt's coverage of trump or harris are statistically significant drivers of the voting choices of undecideds doesn't understand who undecided voters are or what their media diets are like these days.

Wild that anyone thinks that this issue is about undecided voters. That is misunderstanding what upsets people about these issues.

For me it is not about influencing voters. It is about establishing a frame on the coverage that is baffling.

the one that finally broke me was someone complaining that a headline that was something like "musk goes all in on trump" was basically propaganda

It's kind of a tail wagging the dog question. A big part of the problem, especially in this election, is a lot of voters are looking for an excuse to cast their vote for Trump, even though they know they should know better. Biased language like in the NYT Trump headlines give them that permissionIt's kind of a tail wagging the dog question. This is 100% true, and should also serve as a humbling effect for most of our individual social media posts on the same topics. Especially when our posts are not offering a specific better course of action for people to take, just myriad variations of critique
