This thread is full of weird reactionary nonsense. I think “AI in all your things” is dumb and often just a marketing ploy to repackage existing products. That said, AI is genuinely useful in a lot fields, but it’s not really ready to be consumer facing.
Yeah, the rule of thumb seems to be that useful AI isn't really advertised. It's just quietly added and does it's thing. When companies shout about something being driven by AI, you know it's bullshit.
I couldn't agree more. Perhaps that is why so many people were infuriated by my declaration that AI (obviously machine learning but that was the term being used) is here to stay; they just don't have first hand experience with the tools being used right now.
