I think I've read on your blog before that the first sci-fi courses in university were in the 1950s, right? Makes sense that fantasy is still a way behind, although I'm a little surprised it's still that far.
Sorry to bug you @shaunduke.bsky.social but I've heard people talking about the decline of sci-fi as a book genre in terms of popularity & sales and wanted to know if it was actually true. I've read some history of fantasy books that say sci-fi declined in the 80s as fantasy took off - is that true?
