Today's idle thought is that I wish creating new works to tap into nostalgia and pay tribute to classic forms was as big in books as it is music and tv/cinema.
Sorry to bug you @shaunduke.bsky.social but I've heard people talking about the decline of sci-fi as a book genre in terms of popularity & sales and wanted to know if it was actually true. I've read some history of fantasy books that say sci-fi declined in the 80s as fantasy took off - is that true?
