It's special because we front-load the disproportionately risky hypotheses so critical to the viability of the product that planning much for succeeding iterations is probably wasteful.

I was listening to a podcast with Roger Martin. He used the term "Minimum Viable Manifestation" to describe a large experiment to learn & decide if something is worth investing in further. That makes sense to me. But it's an experiment, not a product. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/w...

It's not about planning. We learn, we act, we learn, we act etc. It's an ongoing process. There is no "that first version with just enough features ... ". It doesn't actually exist because every version we show for feedback with be "just enough" to learn more to get to the next iteration. /1
