TV wants too much from us

I watched the first episode. Probably would have watched more, if only because Goldblum would be entertaining reading a grocery list. But who has 8-10 hours to watch a show in its entirety, right as it comes out? Especially one that's brand new and sort-of unheralded?

I am certainly in the group of people that refuses to start new Netflix shows. I'm tired of having my time wasted and tired of the "Show Netflix that (series) has fans! It's being canceled but we can SAVE IT!" campaigns that now accompany every single series. Only for it to be canceled anyway.

aw man i was really looking forward to Kaos, I was waiting to see if it got canceled before I watched it, though. I'm not joking, that's literally what I was doing this piece is spot on.

This is so frustrating. Surely the *benefit* of streaming is that a show can spread by word of mouth and build a fan base over time, because viewers aren't limited to watching it right away!

I was thinking about actually signing up for Disney+ once it had two things I wanted to watch (Andor and the Willow sequel), but I didn't get around to it for what felt like a few weeks, and then the pulled the Willow sequel.

My Netflix/streaming viewership model is that when something new and interesting comes out I'll add it to my long list of Things to Watch. Then sometime in the next six months or so, I'll watch several episodes when there's a slow moment in my life. And I don't even have kids.

Conclusion of that excerpt is ass backwards. Eventually people will cancel Netflix...

Netflix's obsession with only counting viewers who binge-watch is baffling.

What's ironic about this is, Netflix supposedly had a hand in Breaking Bad becoming a smash hit. People slept on the early seasons, but when they came to Netflix word of mouth spread about this awesome show. When new Breaking Bad episodes aired on AMC again, the numbers shot up because of Netflix.

Yeah, just been working my way through this show, an episode a week, after a friend recommended it. TBH I don't think I'll bother picking up new Netflix series unless they're self-contained.
