The Board of Governors in Florida just removed an intro sociology course that mentioned race and gender as a social science option for their gen ed requirements. The vote came after faculty and students on the board objected
State higher-education officials on Thursday moved toward making changes to 'general education core courses' at state universities
Why do the board of governors get to decide on course level gen ed requirements instead of the faculty
I am pretty sure this "innovation" will come to some Canadian provinces soon.
So, the colleges must teach sociology without actually teaching about society. Leave it to Republicans. 🙄
I get the feeling @olbermann.bsky.social's prophecy might come to pass- graduates from Florida's education system may have their qualifications deemed substandard or invalid in other states if they keep this up
Florida seems anxious to become a third world nation
Improper thoughts will be banned.
How about not learning about straight white men? Do we have an option to not study them?
Manny Diaz is a massive POS
The GOP is in the process of turning state universities into vocational schools so employers will hire graduates out of more expensive private colleges, as to not give EO to the lower classes.
They'll have to go through @timgill924.bsky.social
