This ruling follows judicial review applications by GCR and RSA and follows the Advocate General opinion. However, the Court conceded that a country can still be designated as a #SafeThirdCountry even if it does not comply with its obligations to readmit asylum seekers.

The HELIOS programme, the only programme for refugee integration in Greece, has been suspended since January 1, 2024, due to lack of funding.
As of 1/10/2024, Greece will have no active programme supporting the integration and housing of recognised refugees into society, in addition to the chronic legal and practical obstacles to access to documents and socio-economic rights.
As of 31 August 2024, no new enrolments or lease agreements were being processed (housing support). Furthermore, all services provided - including integration monitoring, job counselling, integration classes, home search support, and workshops - ceased on 1 September 2024.
