The Peak District never looks more beautiful than it does in August when the heather is in full bloom.
I was on the Long Mynd in Shropshire last weekend and like The Peaks and Staffordshire Moorlands this weekend, they were wonderfully purple.
Lovely image, reminds me of my childhood growing on the edge of the Peak in Sheffield.

Brilliant, I'm heading up there tomorrow for a few days walking among this
Just small areas of heather on our moors. Perhaps still not recovered from previous year's dry weather despite being wet this year. Plus wildfires and, disappointingly, some still burn the heather. We used to be surrounded by purple until recently. Hope it recovers.
And the scent of honey as you walk through it... wonderful...
