Sure. At a certain point the Bluesky ethos as it's developed over the months runs into the waves of people fleeing That Other Place who are still operating on "snark first" mode, and people who have been here for a while who nevertheless slide back into it. It's a challenge to keep it going.

It'll take a few months of conditioning to deprogram everybody. I guess it depends on how the platform decides what to show people as negative content grows as a % of total content. Hopefully it nudges healthy stuff more than hate speech.

I was hoping that all the "Block First" instincts we'd built up in That Other Place would remain as Bluesky grew. I mean, nothing to say they haven't, but kinda sucks that those instincts are having to kick in more and more now

Also: anyone bailing this late in the Xocalypse has an extremely high tolerance for trolling, bots, quote dunking, snitch-tagging & all the other bad habits that the hellsite brought out in people—some more so than others. they won't be coming here for idealistic reasons. that ship sailed long ago.

Which is why it's important to hold on to people and communities. Even if the general ethos shifts, the people around you are the same.

To be honest, I run on coffee, snark & sarcasm, so it doesn't really phase me.
