Same as always: 1. Find/make time to write; 2. Accept you will suck at it for a while, just like everyone else did; 3. Find joy in it if you can.

I started taking flute lessons in the spring and went from barely making a sound to playing songs (badly) by playing for 15-30 minutes most days. It has been quite a reminder about the power of practice and necessity of working through the suckage.

About #2, lots of folks need to see @maryrobinette.bsky.social's comment on it:

From Mary Robinette Kowal:
Me, talking a writer down from imposter syndrome: How long have you been writing?
Them: Three years.
And how old are you?
28.
Okay. So, you're a level 28 human and a level 3 writer. How good were you as a level 3 human.
Oooooooooooh.

Possibly the most realistic writing advice I've seen, thank you.

I know I'm 8 hours and a whole ass flight home and decompress time late, but GMs for TTRPGs should find this advice helpful, too.

Me, I skip 1 and I'm stuck on 2. Can't imagine why my book hasn't sold a million copies. 😁
