I hate how accurate that is

My lore is that goblins propagate by feeding a potion (that they instinctively know how to make) to infants of other species, causing them to grow into goblins but retaining traits of their original species, which is why their appearance varies. It's also why they're always stealing babies.

Pretty sure they went back to the original art after public outcry.

Ooh I've been thinking about getting back into Arena and I LOVED surveil in Ravnica so I think this has convinced me!

But to have a black man strike a white woman? In 1968? That must have driven a lot of people nuts.

Oh absolutely it's extremely progressive, really. As I mentioned in another comment, the script was written to have a 'default' (white male) protagonist. And there's a scene where the protagonist slaps the female lead because she's 'hysterical.' Not out of the ordinary for the time...

It's kind of interesting. Apparently the original actor they had lined up was white, but he dropped out and Romero hired Duane Jones instead. He didn't change the script at all, but just changing the race of the protagonist changes a lot about the movie when you consider it was 1968.

In the end he's murdered by white men who assume he's a zombie, literally failing to recognize his humanity. The movie itself is pretty racially charged, though that apparently wasn't Romero's intent.

Every Monday I have to look at the last files I had open and/or the emails I sent or received on Friday to figure out what I'm supposed to do.

The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
