I have two primary pieces of advice for parents trying to help kiddos looking to get into #gamedev. (1/2)

All right, ngl, prioritization can get tricky. It's easy to get lost looking at dependencies and estimates. When this happens, go "back up top" to the feature level and prioritize based on value and design pillars. This helps you identify what's really important. #gamedev#indiedev#gameproduction

It's not always clear when you're spinning your wheels. Polish, your quality bar, and iteration are very connected. Here's a couple of things I've seen (and fallen victim to) in my #gamedev#indiedev#gamedevelopment

(1/3) Prototyping is a broad term in #gamedev#indiedev

I'm gonna guess, as a #gamedev you've heard warnings about scope creep. Probably enough that you're sick it. I've noticed, though, that often times while that advice is given (and it's good advice) it's often missing the "how". (1/2)

In #gamedev, we fail. A lot - Particularly when prototyping. Even if you're trying to "fail fast," take the time to analyze why something failed. Usually, there's some part of an idea that's salvageable. Sure, sometimes it's a dumpster fire, but most of the time, there's some element you can use.
