I have received no less than six federal jury notices for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in the past four years, though Iā€™ve never had to report, much to my disappointment. Fairly certain Iā€™d be dismissed given my opinions, but Iā€™d welcome the chance to serve.

Just because power transmission systems werenā€™t designed with gale force winds, ice storms, heat domes, or (lower-probability) solar flares in mind doesnā€™t mean infrastructure is lacking. Tangentially, I do wonder when the last time was that any metro areas checked their sewers for fatburgs.

I love ā€˜pumpkin spiceā€™: marketing jargon that has no fixed flavor, so itā€™s just Caucasian catnip that every American company deploys from August to November. A local garage even advertised ā€œpumpkin spice brake padsā€ last year because they understand the ridiculousness of it.

In 1907, Congress passed a law that American women lost their citizenship if they married a non-citizen. In 1915, the Supreme Court ruled to uphold this act. It was changed in 1940, but citizenship was not restored to those women, nor their children.
