Always awkward to have to ask out loud if I know anyone at some place, but the nature of the pandemic and cross-Atlantic move left me in the dark about a lot of my academic network.

The project in mind might be of interest to anyone with research interests in diffuse support for democracy, public opinion, and the politics of the region (more broadly). It has an IR frame, though.

Shot in the dark, but is in anyone here a security/conflict researcher in Seoul/ROK and open to collaboration? My university is very generous with seed grants for the study of Asia, and I have some ideas, but I would need some contacts.

the thing you have to understand with the American political media is that they learned *nothing* from the Trump years. zero. zip. they had absolutely no ability to self-criticize and were actively hostile to the very notion

The real exorbitant privilege may be insisting that other countries have a very precise understanding and consideration for your domestic political constraints while you don’t have to GAF about theirs.

Being off Twitter for a year and living in another country had me put the United States out of sight, out of mind. Getting back on social media is making me mad all over again.

Give a guy a hammer and he will search for a nail. Give a guy a comically large, no-questions-asked, just-take-it pile of military assistance dollars and he will start looking for targets to obliterate.

if your "free speech is in trouble" blog post includes the word "student" forty four (44) times, the word "woke" seven (7) times, and the word "republican" one (1) time, you are a fucking idiot

Free speech is in trouble

Young liberals are abandoning it — and other groups are too comfortable with tit-for-tat hypocrisy
