I Googled re: Yoruba because your comment made me realise what some Lagosian accents remind me of!

The language has also survived in Cuba (where it is called Lukumi) and in Brazil (where it is called Nago). The Yoruba language is widely spoken in Sierra Leone, Venezuela, Cuba, Trinidad, Tobago, Puerto Rico, and Haiti.

That Yoruba people made their way to Haiti is unsuprising because of the Benin-Haiti link with the slave trade. But I'd have to ask my parents linguistically if they remembered hearing it growing up. I only remember Kreyol and French but I was also a child.

Ah, and Akan:

With the Atlantic slave trade, Akan languages were introduced to the Caribbean and South America, notably in Suriname, spoken by the Ndyuka, and in Jamaica, spoken by the Jamaican Maroons, also known as the Coromantee.

Just an incredible, rich topic about which I know practically nothing. I was a linguistics minor at least but you can only ever know a tiny fraction about the world.
