Los Feliz/Atwater is more accessible for that but also hipsters, so Brooklyn works. If there were a way to define a borough here without it being contiguous, I'd put Downtown LA in "Staten Island" too, but that's my own bias god, downtown sucked) and I know parts of it merit it being in "Brooklyn".
But the rest is really spot on. Queens is where people go to be isolated from the rest of NYC socially, to put it kindly, and that's the Valley to a T. Westside has all the Fun Shit but nobody outside it wants to go there and back, so that's Manhattan.
This mostly tracks! I read elsewhere that all of Glendale and Burbank should be considered "Brooklyn", and I understand why - the more hipstery parts of that area kind of end near Atwater Village, but the rest of it isn't so much like the Valley proper ("Queens") so there's no perfect answer for it.
