Grand Guignol is a London Gothic game about romantic monsters, queer history, fraught intimacy, looming modernity, and marginalised community, perfect for fans of Dracula, Penny Dreadful, The Picture of Dorian Grey, and AMC's Interview with the Vampire.
do you like GAMES? do you like HORROR? do you like HISTORY? you have 9 HOURS LEFT to back Grand Guignol & Harvest, two games I'm publishing with @jdragsky.bsky.socialwww.backerkit.com/c/projects/j...
A historical horror double-feature tabletop RPG about monstrosity, community, and the Gothic.
Genuine questionâin your view, what genre expectations has Burrowâs End flipped? Nothing thatâs happened so far seems to me to be inconsistent or overly surprising given they identified Secret of NIMH as one of their primary touchstones and foreshadowed the technology stuff hard.
HmmmâŚ. Iâm inclined to say yes, given that vanilla slice gives us precedent for a sandwiched format with the layers. Is it baked all together? Increasingly Iâm starting to think that âassembled and refrigeratedâ is a meaningful metric.
we're LIVE! two horror RPGs in one crowdfunding project, all about queer monstrosity, belonging outside belonging , and the historical gothic!!!! GRAND GUIGNOL and HARVEST are available now www.backerkit.com/c/projects/j...
honestly luke is one of the most elegant writers in the biz, yâall
i'm thinking about Occasions in Grand Guignolâhow this London Gothic RPG scaffolds core genre scenes (masquerades, investigations, visitations) to inject fresh momentum & inspiration to begin each session (or if play flags). sign up to the pre-launch here! www.backerkit.com/call_to_acti...
Wouldnât dream otherwise.
everything in Harvest is drenched in ritual and superstition, both large and small, as befits a folk Gothic RPG. even creating your neighbours on the Island is a process of divination, using dice to reveal how they fit into the community (or fail to do so).
I've got "features that as a motif but isn't about it" but that's the best I've got.
