Russian Toys (a ratter + companion dog) are an insanely healthy small breed due to it being so rare, I genuinely hope they never become popular and go down the path of other toy breeds. People who want handbag dogs should never own another life.
One of the breeders we got one of our pups from turned down 3 people before us because they were absolutely not prepared for how much work these dogs are - she'd accepted to keep the pup herself but then we showed up as experienced owners and she was happy to trust him to us.
As someone who owns a 'toy breed' I absolutely know what you mean. It pisses me off even more that they put toy literally in the breed name of my dogs in their generally accepted name (Russian Toy) because they are anything but a toy - they're very high maintenance active dogs, ours just looks easy.
And I get to give dogs miniature taco shaped treats all day. It always delights the humans that not only do I have a treat but it’s on theme
VICTORY! TOTAL VICTORY! All I need to do is go back to Middle-earth, remind everyone I’m God-King, squish the few remaining elves, and then, then we’ll get down to some SERIOUS paperclip-maximalisation. Everything and everyone will be like clockwork automata run by me. Yay. Also no dogs.
Spoiler: they looked like dogs

It went wrong. The Numenoreans have an invincibler army. Am now in chains (again) in Numenor. Have not seen any dogs around the palace but must assume the worst.
