I find the IPA very helpful and will very often search for '[focal] IPA' to source an exact pronunciation of a word in Irish. Fuaimeanna.ie another useful resource has IPA transcriptions of words. IPA isn't very difficult to pick I and I think that it is a very useful tools for language earners.

It's similar in a way to adaptability to heat - the top wage earners have AC offices, making them productive while many other income earners see lower productivity due to heat. Not being able to take a sick day compounds in reducing productivity, reducing wages.
