The title of the painting comes from the wordplay 'Schade'.It means 'pity' in english, which is said as "kár" in hungarian. And here comes the twist: crows say "kár-kár" in hungarian, which we joke around too.So the title is not "pity the bird is dead" it is simply saying what crows say in hungarian.

It’s Bela Lugosi’s birthday, and it never fails to blow my mind to think about how the culturally ubiquitous “vampire voice” for the past 90 years is just an impression of one guy’s Hungarian accent. Not many performances have that sort of impact.

my imagination is very vivid when it comes to scenarios i could embarrass myself in but as a specific example, when i moved here i didn't know that unlike in hungarian (where it's just a cutesy diminutive) the p-word is wildly offensive here i only learnt that because i saw someone else use it

Bold of you to suggest that Trump isn’t a patsy for the Austro-Hungarian revanchists at the Kellogg Institute seeking to weaken American foreign policy by releasing intentionally and increasingly unbalanced Pokémon expansion packs
