The thing that ChatGPT is teaching me is that it doesn’t matter what people think their environmental values or labor rights politics are; the second they get attached to a stupid, comfortable toy, they will fight for it tooth and nail, even in the face of contrary evidence or morals

questions an enterprising political reporter in an influential newsroom could ask a trump spokesperson: “what percentage of americans does trump think are scum?” “what does trump propose to do with the americans he says are scum?” “are these the same americans trump describes as vermin?”

“but he doesn’t say ‘trans people’” even the fucking NYT sees what he’s doing. 1—trans girls aren’t “boys playing girls sports,” they’re girls playing girls sports 2—negotiating this point is off the table 3—they’re not sparring over youth sports; they’re debating our right to exist in public🧵

AFAIK, Clark has done nothing to cause this and is not complicit with it. But it’ll be interesting to see how she and the WNBA handle the growing number of fans whose investment in the game consists, to some degree, in rooting for the white woman and angrily against her Black antagonists.

There's only two groups to blame for climate disaster: the fossil fuel industry and governments that refuse to regulate it. We need to hold those groups accountable. We need to stop using fossil fuels. That's what I'm working to do.

Just reread the original post and, nope, won’t fit at all! But a great book to teach with anyway and one I was clearly excited to recommend ;)
