When are these garbage companies going to realize a) it's *more* work to correct a crap TL than to translate from scratch, and b) no one wants this!!
This keeps happening, and we keep yelling about it, and inevitably, some new garbage company is like, "but what about AI??" I feel like I'm shrieking into the void here.
The worst part is that we all know they're going to be using this rationale to try to justify paying translators less when they're just going to be doing twice as much work.
I think not even the anti-loc crowd want this, because there's still translators and editors (MUH JP PURITY) going over the lines and "inserting agendas." And those of us who already appreciate a good localisation will prefer the translator to do the translation themselves.
Yea, editing automated stuff… can work for like… Closed Captions… but only by virtue of the word pacing being the main thing the automation actually accomplishes for ya… & even then it likely only ever worked out for me b/c I also wrote & recorded the script, & therefore knew it by heart.

This is just a way for them to pay translators less by claiming AI did the groundwork even if that work is bad and has to be redone thoroughly.
