I also find it really egregious that universities essentially require students to opt in to allowing TurnItIn to a) profit from adding their work to their database and b) use their assignments to reinforce cop shit in classrooms.

I visit a lot of schools to facilitate faculty development, and the most asked-for topics (often requested by admin!) are fostering belonging, relationships, and trust w/ students. Yet many of them refuse to invest in those goals, and instead blow $$ on AI shit that actively works against them.
