or wait, are those people self-diagnosing the resources? So are people without an education as a therapist supposed to diagnose other people then? I really wonder, too, which kind of resources they are talking about. There are not even enough resources for any kind of therapeutical need.
People claim there's an epidemic of people faking autism to gain some unknown advantage. But what advantage is there to having an autism diagnosis? In my experience, when people find out you're autistic, they treat you worse, not better!

There may be some merit for a kid getting an autism diagnosed if only to have access to modified education throughout school and university (like getting extra time on tests, etc) As an adult though, unless your level of disability is high, the world gives pretty much no incentive to get diagnosed.
Yes this reminds me of how people think people re self diagnosing with ADHD to get all the sympathy or whatever. Nope!
