Having lived through a 1,000-year flood event in 2013, I can co-sign this. I grew up swimming in the ocean and am a total water baby, but I never feared the power of water until I witnessed the absolute, majestic, inexorable terror that is a flood. Water's going to go where it wants to, period.
That was my 50th birthday present from the Universe. I’ve v concluded that the Universe doesn’t like me very much.
Having grown up in a place where people died in flash floods almost every year I thought I had a healthy respect for the awesome power of nature, but even just seeing the footage of these massive floods over the last decade blows me away. I can't imagine what it's like to be caught in one of them!
