I think people have a duty to boycott Twitter. It might be a source of money or influence, but its owner is using it to promote an openly fascist movement that has used political violence in the past and will do so again.
Disaster researchers have been talking about this (we call them indirect deaths) for literal decades but Iâm glad the economists have caught on⌠Now do literally all the other hazards too!
"Hurricanes are hundreds of times deadlier than anyone has realized." @robinsonmeyer.bsky.social on the new study that could radically shift how we think about hurricane deaths:
New research published today in Nature shocked even the studyâs own authors.
Butterfly numbers are crashing: one of a vast multitude of flashing red lights warning of the death of the natural world all around us. But we CAN reverse this, by banning pesticides and initiating mass rewilding. Less talk, more action. đ www.theguardian.com/environment/...

End of an era as Britainâs last coal-fired power plant shuts down
UKâs 142-year history of coal-fired electricity ends as turbines at Ratcliffe-on-Soar plant in Nottinghamshire stop for good
40 years is impressive! Iâve only really just crossed the bridge from vegetarian recently. Reducing environmental impact is massively important to me too, iâd much rather see wildlife than farm animals.
Lies: 1) if you can have children you should 2) if you can make money out of something you should 3) if you have money you should spend it 4) poverty is unavoidable 5) war is unavoidable 6) some humans have more value than others 7) humans are the only species that matter
Absolutely not disputing anything youâve said there. I think I was just trying to hint that if you give up meat for other reasons (environmental impact, health etc) stopping cruelty should be on the list. Itâs such a good foundation for reducing the harm we do.
So many reasons to step away from animal agriculture (but the biggest one and best motivator is still ethics. Itâs dead easy, just acknowledge animals are sentient and act accordingly) #govegan
Antimicrobial resistance is a huge & growing problem. The fast majority of antibiotics are administered to farm animals. Factory farming (where atrocious conditions and the need to grow animals fast require their use) and meat consumption are increasing globally... www.unep.org/news-and-sto...

van Gogh in 1889 said "It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality is more important than the feeling for pictures." I think he would have got it. vangoghletters.org/vg/letters/l...
