Yeah I thought the requirement was for the app makers to allow blocking users from the service, but apparently there is precedent of apps not getting approved because users can’t block each other.

I saw some app store rejections that explicitly said "users gotta be able to block other users"

You can't block accounts on Youtube, which still makes no sense to me, so I assume it's a full misread.

They are in some sense Apps are required to have a way to block user made content However, the "Mute" feature technically does that. The block feature does more So even without block, there's a fair argument to be made that they're in compliance with just mutes Removing block would be stupid tho

Even if they aren't, Apple and Google would have to choose to enforce it. How much faith do we have they would enforce it and not come up with a squirmy explanation why it didn't/doesn't apply? I have none.

I read it as "the site has to have ability to block bad actors" meaning it can't be completely unmoderated. I don't think it means that users specifically need to have a block feature.
