What's one of those life skills you wish you had, but never learn? Mine is the phonetic alphabet (i.e., "C as in Charlie"). I always panic and give the most unhinged, top-of-my-brain examples, like "M as in mammoths" or "P as in poop." I hope I'm at least entertaining service workers.

I had a lab colleague once who liked to say "P as in pneumonia"

Strong agree with the phonetic alphabet one. Although the official one has been ruined for me ever since a man with the strongest Scottish accent I’ve ever heard said ‘Quebec’ on a phone call, and it sounded like ‘Kibik’ and I just could not understand what letter he was trying to get me to hear 😂

Business networking. Soooooo awkward!

When Megan and I used to work in Microsoft tech support, the phonetic alphabet was posted on our cubicles. Great for us, but using it on the line always seemed to encourage people like you into trying to use it back haha. Everyone's spontaneous phonetic alphabet is awkward and hilarious.

When people use it at me, I usually accidentally write the word, so I'm still half way through scribbling Charlie when they're done with their spelling, and I realise what I've done

I know the phonetic alphabet but do this anyway bc it’s fun!

I said “T as in tea” once and then laughed for a good minute while the rep on the phone just sat there silently 😂

Would you like a picture of the official phonetic alphabet? It is literally hanging as wall art in front of me right now lol

It's not difficult to pick up, especially if you have a chance to use it! I made a chart and taped it to the side of my monitor when I did customer service. Once memorized, it helped tremendously when I had to type in names and addresses accurately. Got asked if I'm military because of it, tho.

I love using the words that start with a silent 'P' in spelling: 'P' as in pterodactyl, 'P' as in pneumonia, 'P' as in pneumatic, 'P' as in Ptolemy.
