The point being, politicians and oil execs can pretend climate change isn’t a real thing. You know who acts like it’s a real thing? Insurance companies, intelligence agencies and the military. Act accordingly.
And who else? EarthFirst! forest protectors. The EF! Journal was writing of this in the 90's & 00's. DFHs with PhD's warned us. Sigh.
They estimate 646 people died from heat last year in the city. The US is one power failure away from a 10k heat fatality event in a major city. Assuming a hurricane doesn’t get there first.
People don't properly understand that at a certain point, AC no longer cools the air, it only conditions it, unless you want to burn it out. A couple months under a heat dome will break most cities.
It’s my understanding that various folks in Great Lakes-area states have been discussing how to deal with climate migration for a while.
No oil execs are pretending climate change isn’t real afaik. Things have moved on. Publicly accepting climate science is necessary but absolutely not sufficient.
Our institutions also need to act accordingly.
