Inerestingly, this picture changes when using fulltext search where algorithms based on Sequest (as implemented in ProteomeDiscover) dominate...
Trying to estimate popularity of search engines. (Something widespread I missed out?) Based on citations/year of initial publication it seems as MSFragger would take over soon...
Hey #TeamMassSpec#OrbiTOF Astral in their lab? Would be interested in comparisons. Where do both have their respective sweet spots?
I think there are DIA applications were MS1-based quan has shown benefits (i.e. plexDIA). Also more recent algorithms like QuantUMS make use of this Information to inprove accuracy/precision…
.. but forgot that one needs it for MS1 full scan capability
Orbitrap-free Astral?
What do you measure and how?
At same time have 2 timsTOFs running for a year w/o performance drop. Have only cleaned ion transfer interface once which takes 5 minutes..
Quad cleaning every 3 months on multiple Exploris and Eclipse systems running 24/7. Individual systems seem generally more affected by charging than others requiring extra cleaning. Note that we have removed FAIMS devices. Possibly would keep dirt out but have no capacity for weekly cleaning…
Anyone having a good explanation why all Orbi systems require frequent cleaning while timsTOFs just continue to run stable ?
