In 2018 my House Rep Visclosky had a town hall at the library. A woman came to complain that it was too hard for her relatives from Poland to get documentation (valid criticism), but went on to then basically ask why it was so easy for dirty Mexican criminals to get asylum, but not her relatives.
I’m pretty alarmed by Trump’s threat to jail people who say mean things about the Supreme Court, both because being able to criticize the government is a fundamental part of American democracy, and also because I do not want to go to jail newrepublic.com/article/1863...
The right to criticize the powerful is a cornerstone of democracy. In Trump’s America, it’s cause for a prison sentence.
