Many of the issues faced by myself, my friends, and my colleagues is not because of 'science'. It's because of the systemic issues within academia: job insecurity, low wages, lack of jobs, rampant bullying, and toxic work environments.
I was reading this paper just now, and thought "the text is written in such a weird way", like, it could not even be explained as a "English as a second language" kind of problem. I get to the end, and found out why the text was weird. #AI#GenerativeAI 🧪

Recently @franzanth.bsky.social commissioned a print of my choice of local invertebrates in Indonesia. 🐡🧪 I chose the Great Mormon Butterfly because I thought its black/white/grey & red colour scheme was so graphic & would make a great print. Interestingly though, they don’t always look like this. 🧵
I accepted a job offer recently and will be moving to another country next year (stay tuned, still dealing with visa apps). In contrast to the huge amount of work I had to do myself to get to Belgium and then still left to my own devices for most of my fellowship... 1/2
Took me a while to understand that Git(Hub) isn't *meant* to be used as an archive of data (or even code tbh). Its explicitly designed to be for working and evolving code-bases (hence why it may seem confusing). Zenodo is more appropriate for static code/data.
