It would be a lie to say that Bluesky is not benefiting from the former Twitter's turn toward being a fascist shitpile, and to a smaller extent Threads' moderation fumbles, but I think once people get here, they stay because on balance it's just a generally nicer place to be and to hang out.

I don't agree with the liberal echo chamber thing either. Lots of people on here talking about serious issues but without all the trolls and bots.

The other place just gives me a headache now. I go back and have a look from time to to time but the algorithms are out of control and its just a cesspit. I enjoyed a lot of the sports/music stuff there but find people on here are far more engaging. Hope it continues.

I like it here, having deleted my accounts on Twitter and trying things out on Threads. Their moderation is disappointing and my posts there dropped there due to my no longer engaged there. Bluesky doesn’t have the moderation issues plaguing Threads and seems to be friendlier.

Also, it's got some unique features that are legitimately game-changing.

Agreed. I'm finally excited about a Twitter-like place again.

Honestly, there's intelligence in selling a product at peak performance to an absolute dunce at a very nice price, then immediately creating a slightly improved product next door and waiting for the dunce to alienate and drive off users who will then repopulate the new product.

With Cambridge Analytics chicanery, I stepped away from all social media. I came back to Twitter for this election cycle, only to have it bought a few months later. I joined here but stayed there. I gave him a chance. The vector is clear. Twitter is beyond redemption. Enshitification abounds.

The snowball effect is definitely kicking in now

I tried to make the switch months ago but I couldn’t get my friends over on twitter to leave their old communities behind. But musk’s platform has become so awful and his choices so questionable they’re finally migrating so with the familiar user base migrating it will continue to expand.
