One of my more Too Spicy For The Cis political opinions is that paid transition leave should be a right on the same level as paid maternity leave.
My org actually has 3 weeks paid for transition.
It definitely should be.
When I worked for the civil service there was a delay in changing my details on the work system and I refused to return until it was fixed. It took like 2 months

Early transition, which I'm defining as the time period where you're coming out, changing up presentation, initiating medical treatments if wanted, is a time where you're super vulnerable, dealing with new stressors, and slightly losing your mind from finally feeling alive. Give them space!
I have benefited from this. I have used it entirely for hair removal. Job 1 had unlimited leave so I just took it. Job 2 had unlimited sick leave, on a trust policy, so again I just took it -- it is a medical need. Job 3 I negotiated 10 days per year transition leave. (Accumulating if not taken)
I'm going to recommend this to my boss when she returns from her holiday. Our HR policy is up for review by the board.
