Two suburbs joining the slow moving trend to legalize ADUs: New Brighton and Falcon Heights. Both allow provision for reasonable sized ADUs (~ 1000 square ft, 2 bedrooms), but retain an owner occupancy requirement. www.startribune.com/new-brighton...

The suburbs join several cities across Minnesota that now allow the units, also known as mother-in-law apartments.

Its awesome to see look at this tweet, and see that the person introducing it is my Federal House Rep. This is so important though and would give so much hope from this continued pandemic.

I was canvassing last election and hit a punk door where I thought I'd really have to sell them on voting as harm reduction. And started the "bad" part of my "yeah Dems can be bad, but" spiel and they looked really concerned and made sure I understood I should still vote because the GOP was worse

factoid about Kris Kristofferson: his doctors for a decade misdiagnosed him as having Alzheimer's, when in reality he had undiagnosed Lyme Disease, which mimics many of the same symptoms (ask me how I know)

there are people smarter than myself who can properly delineate the difference between tools and services, but imo a key part is the ability for a tool to be used/adapted in ways beyond the creator's vision, whereas a service grants you access to a constrained set of results.

Good time to share my old story about the Human Generosity Project. The standard for human society is not only systems of reciprocal altruism but also non-reciprocal acts of generosity as a logical way to manage risk. In Appalachia, they call it "Neighboring" www.sapiens.org/culture/ik-p... 🧪

Is a More Generous Society Possible?

Ik people - Generosity helps societies manage risk and cope with disasters. New research untangles the factors that lead people to help neighbors in need.

Some days I want to sit down newly out trans folk and gently let them know that transition is amazing, but they're probably going to be processing a lot of stuff most folks go through in their teens. It's not called second puberty just because of the hormones and physical changes.
