A quartz tower with an expanded tip. The amazing thing about quartz is that it is clear when pure, but any elements around at formation can affect the color, which spans the rainbow, and can create tiny worlds inside the crystals with included growth. There are even specimins with water included, and that water is millions of years old! (This particular piece appears to have calcite or something similar included in the tip

This is my current favorite quartz, blue quartz. These crystals are rare, but tumbles or blue quartz are readily available. It's got an irregular hexagonal shape in the photo and is growing in the center of what looks like chalcopyrite or pyrite.
(But knowing quartz, that could also be gold)

Liquid mercury on the surface of Cinnabar ore. Cinnabar itself is crystallized mercury and also quite poisonous unless properly laquered..
Liquid mercury is a cumulative poison, meaning it slowly builds in your body and it's not easily flushed.
The Cinnabar pictured is many red polygons in an arrangement that looks haphazard. The liquid mercury presents as silver droplets against the surface of red.

These are ampoules of mercury, a very dense (meaning these would surprise you with the weight) liquid metal. Mercury expands and contracts, depending on temperature, so tempature used to be measured in MMHG (millimeters of mercury) it has been said that more than one ancient ruler bathed in it, and it made them more wise, but we know today that this was just the madness taking hold.

Went to a neat little new age store today, I wanted to check out some tarot decks but ended up not liking any they had and bought a little amethyst and a chalcopyrite instead. I'm sure they're supposed to have magical properties but I forget what the signs said. They're magical property is: pretty.
