How do you feel about one GM/one player TTRPG sessions? I loved them back in the 90s, we could centre on a single character with a crunchy game system and really go to town on the campaign, it felt really tight and focused. I found them creatively and emotionally stimulating as a GM and player.
Done it once or twice in the past (as storyteller) and really enjoyed it, and am idly prepping a one-on-one Vampire: Dark Ages (1st end) session/campaign for a friend who hasn't done TTRPG before, but is getting almost intrigued enough to try soon ๐ ๐น๐ฒ๐
full of Qs for #AcademicSky today - specifically, can anyone recc. a super introductory-level guide to humanities methodologies that would be suitable for STEM students doing med hums/STS for the first time? Like a v. basic "what is anthropology/lit studies/history" ๐๏ธ
๐ Something, something, cunning plan Sadly I won't be their next year - which makes me suddenly realise that arranging a panel and silently getting you to moderate it, and then not turning up myself either would be *even funnier* ๐
Well, that sounds fantastic, and depending on the when (because, geography), I'm theoretically interested in hopping over to join in. And will happily talk about medieval studies and TTRPGs, the ongoing process of turning the Lombard laws into a TTRPG and/or run a play test of my #LangobardRPG :)
This question will most apply to UK people because geography, but... Would there be interest in a 1 day event that: a) Offers the gaming public chance to hear from scholars working on games history/game studies (with the focus on games history). & b) Offers the chance to play history-focused RPGs.
Oh, that's always fun! I hope you get a chance to play it soon ๐ I find having special dice always adds something extra - the D6 numbered 0-5 are for my #LangobardRPG, used alongside D10s (read as 0-9), to add a bit more colour and depth into the rules without getting too complex and 'crunchy'.
I always meant to collect magnets, and would always come home and realise I'd forgotten. Again. Last month I was in Belgrade (No. 4, above ๐) and realised I'd inadvertently been collecting them on trips, so decided to make it an official strategy. (Which means I'll inevitably forget next time... ๐)
* the white D6, even...
And let me show you the dice I've acquired (so far) this year (Finding a ttrpg shop and getting a set of dice is my new souvenir strategy when travelling, although the pink and green (set 2) here are from home, and the white S6 were bought online)
