They're very different from each other but I second the recs for Talk to Me and Skinamarink. Although I wouldn't quite call Skinamarink "fun." It's probably the scariest movie I've ever seen and I usually don't scare. But you have to really give yourself over to the experience to "get" it

i read recently about how one thing that claims lives in otherwise survivable crisis situations is that people just refuse to believe that what is happening is happening and are cognitively unable to respond to the situation at hand.

There's a lot to this. Folks inevitably live their lives inside a mentally-constrained model of what society *is*; what it can do; how it changes. For most folks, war, civil unrest, depositism, mass-detentions etc are things that happen to other people on the same screens that you watch fiction on.

Every time I post about the threat Trump poses and the Republicans pose I get hundreds of responses, some ranging from the normal response to being confronted with a fascist and some saying “calm down” people really have no clue what’s happening.
