Have you taught rare book cataloging before? Are you a person who loves sharing your syllabus to help out fellow colleagues in the field? Let me know. I have a year to pull this together.

This will probably be my first time in London that I actually get to do stuff *in London* instead of getting whisked away to a venue immediately, so if you can give me the coolest 1-2 things to do in like a four- or five-hour window, please do.

Think we must all read Isabel J. Kim clarkesworldmagazine.com/kim_02_24/

Image from the short story "Why don't we just kill the kid in the omelas hole" by Isabel J. Kim. Text says "So they broke into the hole in the ground, and they killed the kid, and all the lights went out in Omelas: click, click, click. And the pipes burst and there was a sewage leak and the newscasters said there was a typhoon on the way, so they (a different “they,” these were the “they” in charge, the “they” who lived in the nice houses in Omelas [okay, every house in Omelas was a nice house, but these were Nice Houses]) got another kid and put it in the hole."

Something that dawned on me y'day is that the number of ppl who angrily respond with "WHY DON'T THEY TARGET CLIMATE-RELATED THINGS" sort of belies how many people haven't cottoned onto the role of centrist, white, wealthy art-gallery-going liberals in ongoing techno-solutionism and half-measures
